JUST JUICE IT

As some of you may know, in recent months I've adopted a juicing practice and been pretty excited about the results of it. It's been fun to share the process with friends and family and see others getting on the juicing train too! We've already experienced relief from what have been long-present & persistent pains, allergies, low-energy levels, and the need for medications like Claritin, Tylenol, etc. I wanted to start sharing some of these recipes, stories, and the research that led me to try juicing incase it might be something that could benefit you as well! Today, I'll start by sharing some of my favorite recipes for the juices I've been making.

The recipes below are adaptations I've made to recipes I found either at juicerecipes.com/health or from Jason Vale's YouTube channel...

GREEN AID

4 apples

3 stalks of celery (11-12" long)

2 kale leaves (8-12")

1 lemon (unpeeled or peeled)

4 cups of spinach

1 handful of Italian parsley

1.5 thumbs of ginger

Green Aid has so many health benefits! I started making it for its help with alleviating depression, reducing inflammation, bone protection, and the prevention of numerous cancers and degenerative diseases.

I can report that it has notably helped me with mood stabilizing and reducing joint pain.

BERRY A-PEELING

2 large apples

1 small lime

3 cups of strawberries (whole)

1 thumb ginger

Strawberries are high in potassium which makes them a great diuretic that helps to detox the body. They are also known to have an anti-anemic effect, and are full of folic acid that helps improve memory, concentration and the brain's ability to process information.

Besides its health benefits, this juice just tastes great. Though we should be drinking more vegetable juices than fruits, this is a very healthy option and a great "first juice" to try.

Curious but don't have a juicer? Well first, Sunshine Health Foods on Youree Drive makes fresh juice in their cafe and you could try one to see what you think. Then, if you think you're ready to make your own juices, there are lots of options for juicers at stores in town like Bed, Bath & Beyond, Target, etc. There are a couple of different types of juicers and a wide range of prices. This article describes the pros and cons of each and can help you make the best decision for you.

I'll be posting more information and recipes regularly. You can also subscribe to my newsletter list and get additional recipes for juices and healthy meals via email! See the form below...

I'd love for this to be an ongoing conversation so if you've got thoughts, questions, or reports from your own juicing experiments, please share!

Thanks for reading, as always,

GINGER SHOT (4 oz.)

1 apple

1 chunk of lemon (1/3 to 1/2 of fruit)

1 thumb of ginger

Ginger is magical, often called the "Doctor Root" for its anti-histamine, anti-inflammatory, digestion aiding, metabolism stimulating, energizing, and sinus clearing properties...among its other uses.

During cleanse/detox days, I replace my morning coffee with one of these guys for an instant boost of energy! I start most mornings with one actually. I have also cured numerous sinus/allergy headaches with this concoction that Zyrtec-D+Aleve just wouldn't kick. Also, it pretty much tastes like lemonade which is a perk.

CAN'T STOP THE BEET

2 apples

2-3 beet roots + stems & leaves

4 carrots

4 stalks of celery (or 2 cucumbers)

4 cups of spinach

1.5 thumbs of ginger

Beets are brilliant in cleansing the blood and the liver, as well as raising energy levels and expediting weight loss! Also they're a gorgeous color (but beware the stains) and taste great.
